Kari caught a whiff of whatever the hell Ray Ray was drinking and chocked, her hands instantly over her nose as tears ran down her face.
"N-no thanks... the smell itself is enough to send fire down my throat." Kari chocked out before she replied to Markus's question.
"You know about as much as we do. There was a massive explosion then people, plants, animals... everything began to mutate." Kari explained, wheezing partially as she moved down wind of Ray Ray's deadly drink.

Ray Ray laughed. "It'll send fire into a lot of things Sweetheart."
Responding to Markus, he chuckled as he smoked the last bit of his blunt. "Safe? Did you or did you not just get chased by a pussy willow. Safe ain't that word of the day boy, it's more like a memory or a fairy tale."
Noticing the stare, Ray Ray got a little smile on his face. "Wanna know about mutants boy? I'll tell you know, this mutie will learn you plenty. First lesson'll be some actrite at the back of my hand if ya don't quit that staring."

Markus, believing he got all the information he could from Ray Ray stood up. “I think it’s time I start exploring more. Either I find A or I head back to my home in Canada.” Last thing Markus wants to become a mutant like them. “So which way to the city? I couldn’t imagine very many ‘pussy’ willows in a city.” he asks while looking back at Kari.

Kari's tail flicked back and forth. Should she tell him?
"I'll show you to the city... but I must show you something first." Kari murmured. She looked over at Ray Ray.
"If you'd like you can come with us. I'm showing him where the dogs are." Kari told the man, referring to the blockade. She turned back to Markus.
"This way." And began to walk towards the blockade

"Nah. Just people who will cut you open to see if you're mutated, or mutants that'll cut you open for some food."
Ray Ray scratched his face, squinting at the man. "You ain't getting home to Canada boy. The military stoppin ya on that. But I'll follow the girl, help her save ya again most likely." Petting the bike, he loaded Bessie and lossened his knife, following the girl.

Markus just stood there silent. The idea of not being able to go back to Canada, A military blockade, people attacking other people because of mutations. When Markus inquired about the events prior this was important.
After a few moments in thought, he continued to fallow Kari and asked them both, "So where do you both stand in this whole mess?"
Markus for the first time, felt alone in a world of chaos.

Kari's ears twitch backwards to catch Markus's voice. Her tail twitch with thought as she lead the way to the blockade.
"I'm not sure, Markus." She finally answered, her dexterous feet-claws allowing easy climbing - something she never quite tried before. Now she walked uphill with ease, her tail swinging back and forth with her movements.
"I, personally, don't mind being a mutant... it's not as bad as you think. We can do things humans can't. To demonstrate her meaning Kari bunched the muscles in her legs and leaped high into a tree, her claws digging into the wood before she launched herself to another tree that had a lower branch. Landing she looked down and waited for them to catch up.
"Sure it's scary as hell at first - I mean, just imagine my shock when I looked into a mirror after I woke up." Kari chuckled weakly.
"Talk about a whole new side of 'cat-woman'. But really... I don't like being stuck in here... because of them." Kari gestured up ahead.
"About another couple meters that way there is a line of military men with their guns loaded and ready to fire. It's suicide to go too close to them. Their orders are 'shoot first, never ask questions'. Kari explained before she jumped down from the tree branch, her curled legs easily taking the pressure.

Ray Ray casually stood there, gun pointed at the troops in case they got froggy. "Yea, it ain't to bad. My fingers helped me get Spanish guitar down pretty good. Just a couple more nails to clip."
Shrugging his shoulders as Kari hit the ground, Ray Ray thought about it. "I don't stand no where. The hummies can't kill me cause I'm a mech, and the mutties won't kill me cause I'm a mech. Long as I know mechanics, I stay alive. Long as I got my dog and my trailer, I'll be good."

Markus stared out in the distance. Worried about getting too close he began to walk backwards. Even with both Kari and Ray Ray talking about benefits of being a mutant he has no intentions of being anything but human.
Markus' dry mouth is now starting to get to him, "I'm getting really thirsty, is there a water source near by?"

Kari turned to Markus before lifting her nose and sniffing, her ears twitching.
"This way." Kari said simply when she heard something that sounds like water. Leading the way she stopped at a small creek, kind of proud with herself about being able to scavenge so well. Bending over she cupped a handful and taking a sip. Tasting nothing wrong with it she nodded at Markus.
"It's safe."

Ray Ray plopped down next to the stream, taking a handful of the water, making sure to keep his eyes open and ears listening. No telling what was in these woods, or this water. He'd been to Lake Erie, that water was some good water if you was ready to fight for it.
"So, where y'all stay?"

Markus began to drink like he's never drank water before. The water tasted sweet, he quickly felt an addiction to it. After a long drink we stood up and felt full of energy. "You may have guess that I'm homeless right now.Since I'm from Canada and have no clue where 'A' resides."

Kari, at the risk of acting like an animal, leaned forward slightly more and drank deeply. She sat up after a good drink and wiped her mouth on the back of her hand.
"Ive been living on the streets and in abandoned houses for the past little while... my place was leveled by the explosion." Kari grumbled, still crouching by the creek, listening to the frogs croak in the distance and Markus's heart beat slightly stronger. Odd... why would water do that? Kari turned her head and eyed up the taller man. I wonder... Shrugging it off she turned back to the creek and watched the water intently for the fish she'd heard.

Ray Ray leaned back against a dead tree stump. Scratching that same damn spot on his neck again, he thought carefully before he answered.
"Well, I got a trailer. It ain't much, but I got food, water, shine and weed. Long as y'all ain't allergic to dogs. Cause if you try to hurt her and she don't kill ya, I will."
Stretching his arms, he stood. "I got room for two on my bike. Y'all want some dinner or not?"
Not waiting for an answer, he walked back towards the bike, his feet crunching on dead leaves, branches and small animal bones. The place smelled dead, and this spot was just that. Dead. The water would hopefully bring it back to life, but he doubted it. The world was too damaged, too dead, too far gone, this part of the world was just the first. The rest would follow eventually.

Markus was eager for shelter now, knowing how alone he's become he'd rather stay with familiar company at this time. "I'll stick around. I could potentially help you around, eh. I'm not sure it means much now but back in Canada I was studying to be an accountant before 'A' invited me over." Before walking back to Ray Ray's bike he slightly pet Kari as a sign of appreciation for finding the water and said "Thank you."
